Abstract: From interactive fiction to collaborative narratives through the web, Alok Nandi, a Brussels-based new media writer/director, is going to share some fragments of a web mise-en-scene of the Obscure Cities universe, authored by François Schuiten and Benoit Peeters. Historical characters such as Jules Verne will mingle with fictional actors such as Eugen Robick and will lead you in a network of retrofuturistic cities like Urbicande, Brusel, Xhystos, Pahry, Brusel.

About the Presenter: Alok b. Nandi, new media director, is working on cross-media projects, in mixed-realities (virtual, augmented, ...). He is exploring narrative spaces through cinema, photo, new media, ... in India and Japan. He has been awarded for urbicande.be in 1997, has been selected for Imagina 2000 (with X. Marichal, alterface) and is preparing installations in Porto 2001, in Lyon.

Alok b. Nandi, auteur et realisateur multi_media, developpe des projets cross-media, dans les realites mixtes (virtuelles, augmentees, ...). Ses passions pour le cinema l'ont pousse a explorer des imag(inair)es de l'Inde, du Japon, ... Il ecrit, concoit des espaces narratifs, realise des cd-roms, des sites web, des videos et prepare des installations. Ses travaux (acclames dans les medias, prix de la Scam 1997, nomination au Prix Mobius 2000, selection a Imagina 2000 - Village de l'Innovation...) brouillent les pistes de la virtualite a la realite, ou vice-versa.
