There sleeps Titania sometime of the night,
Lull'd in these flowers with dances and delight;
And there the snake throws her enamell'd skin,
Weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in; (II ii 253-256)
The snake is one of the most familiar symbols for the phallus - so what is a snake skin? In connection with the catalogue of flowers in Oberon's description of the bank where Titania likes to sleep, the snake skin can easilty be read to suggest female sexuality. And again, an animal is mentioned in connection with a woman and her bed.
