Structure was largely ignored after that until this century, when some critics saw dance and music as structuring elements in the play. With the developement of French structuralism in the 1960s and 70s, more formalistic structural analyses were presented, showing how the play could be construed as symmetrical (Rose 1972) or pyramidal (Comtois 1980.)
